You don't know what he means to me, Jolene! Here is all about soccer!
In July, I went to Uni Games. It was okay, a bit fun and a bit crap. We were genuinely crap at the soccer bit, we lost every single game, no one could play, the other team would just freeze in place and we still lost the ball. Man I hate losing! Although, the uniforms were sweet as bro'. So here are some of the Soccer Ladies of UTS. Or, SLUTS.

We stank so hard, the referee let us sub on the mascot, an inexplicable frill-necked lizard. Inexplicable I say! Why would UTS be a lizard?!? So, we subbed him on and he got twice as far as anyone else. And the person inside that costume can't see.
In other, much more exciting, soccer news, my Sunday team won the grand final AGAIN! So now we're in the first division!

Champions! This is the worst photo ever, yeah? So we went bowling to celebrate and drank lots. And then I won coach's choice which just made my day. We rock so hard! *there is dancing happening now*

Celebrating with our disgusting trophies that looked like Rose Porteous vomited. Helen decided they were the perfect size for shots! Then we all got lead poisoning! Not really.

Yay supporters! How sweet.
Yesterday I got back from Brisbane. It's just as hot here! Ludicrous! I went up to visit Beck and hang out with all her lesbionic friends, it was wicked. We ate tiny cupcakes and almost went to Sizzler. Do you guys remember Sizzler?!? Ah, the halcyon days of youth.
Beck took me to see a one-man show called Other-wise. Half the time it was genuinely funny, and the other half of the time I was just thinking "ohmigod ohmigod ohmigod this is Gay: A Gay Musical this is hilarious how am I supposed to take this seriously ohmigod". But it was pretty entertaining.
And the next night we went to see free comedy, there were two newish ones which were pretty good and then the main act, Daniel Townes, who was very funny and I'd recommend him!
I saw Up and it was pretty good, but it's not anything like it looks on the ads. I cried, to my shame! I'm turning into my mother nooo! I saw Fame too, and it blew, don't see it. I'm excited about seeing Wicked on Tuesday though!!! Apparently you're supposed to dress up but I don't think I'm going to do that...
Other than that, nothing much to report:
Uni still boring. Housesat and dogsat for a month, really really love living alone! Addiction to Antiques Roadshow!!! Whenever I tell anyone that, there is a pause, then they quietly say, "Me too...".
Much love!

I like to move it move it Hi y'all,
Just a quick message:
Does anyone want to do the City To Surf on Sunday? I'm definitely going and I'm totally up for more company.
Basically, I'm not registered and you don't have to be - the roads are closed and I figure you're allowed to walk along them.
I know, I know, fourteen kilometres can seem like a lot but it goes really really quickly and we could make it fun!
The only thing you would need to bring would be runners, and I mean RUNNERS, not leather Converse sneakers from the '80s, and not stiletto thongs, and definitely not Doc Martins, because they're just plain hideous.
So, there you go. I know it's a long shot, but if anyone feels like it, we could make a most excellent day of it. Comment, SMS or whatever. All welcome!
EDIT: We would be walking, if that weren't obvious. I mean, I'm open to other ideas, but seeing as it will probably be quite sunny (it is a scientific fact that it does not rain on City To Surf day) it would probably be more pleasant anyway.
Also, if you don't know, water and Gatorade are provided en route.

Red tape is fun!

Did you know: - black eyes can cause a huge amount of mirth for your coworkers?
Sorry for shithouse quality. But that's how I roll. Please note sweet-ass UTS sports hoodie!
The picture's a fortnight old though and I don't have it any more. It was delicious fun, I must say!
Right now I have my first influenza ever (like a baby!) and I'm pretty much over it. HOWEVER it does make me grateful that I don't have asthma.

I'm not racist but... I'm sick of having such shithouse friends. Why are you always cancelling on me with no notice? What's wrong with you people? Don't you understand the system where we support and care for each other? Obviously not.
It's so easy: 1. Don't always arrive late. 2. Don't arrive late on my birthday. 3. Don't say you'll be five minutes late and then come half an hour late. You can read the time. You're not a child, why are you acting like one?
Next time I'll just go home. Fuck you.
Yes, this relates to everyone. Like Chris, who cancelled on me five minutes before he as supposed to arrive. Just how long does your bus trip take, again? Or Jeremy, who RSVPed and never showed up to my birthday dinner. I know you are an avid fan of the RSVPing system. You use it all the time. As such, could you do better next time? I had to pay for all that food you didn't eat, and other people as well. I don't actually ENJOY wasting money. Do you?
Basically, be the friends I deserve. That's how the give-and-take works. So try the fuck harder.
I don't want to see any of you for a while.

Harder, better, faster, stronger Dear Diary,
Not sure why I'm updating but will do so anyway!
v. v. excited to see Adam Hills tomorrow night! And then David O'Doherty on Sunday night! And maybe see Dylan Moran IN PERSON on Monday? It's going to be the Comedy Weekend of Bliss! About a month ago I also saw Tim Minchin, which I think I forgot to write about. It was tip-topmost! I also read Dawn French's Dear Fatty, which was really quite entertaining! She's heaps funny. Is anyone else incredibly disappointed by Russell Brand's Ponderland?
So Freya, what are YOU all about nowadays?

Well, I've been watching an awful lot of The Young Ones, that's for sure! Now I definitely want to live in a hovel. Forever. Rick, (who is, after all, a sociology student like me!) makes WAY too much sense...

I swear I know people just like him!
I've also been watching Mother & Son and Are You Being Served?. Are You Being Served? for Chrissakes! Hilario, yet pissweak.

I also FINALLY got to see The Boat That Rocked with Tracey, we'd been excited about that for ages! So yay! It was really quite fun and the soundtrack was bravura, so I bought it for my Mumsie.

Bec came down in the holidays. We read Stephen Fry's Tweets and watched lots of movies - most notably Across The Universe, which had like the shittiest plot ever, but everything you watched and heard on screen was great so who gives a flying copulation? Joe Anderson (left, Hawaiian shirt) was my favourite. Bec's back in July, fantastico!
Thomasina and I also finally finally watched Persepolis! It was quite good actually, (has anyone else noticed that I always like everything?), except the end was too abrupt, which always seeks to make me ENTIRELY FURIOUS! We also saw Donnie Darko - what? She just bought a new clock.

In other news, new Ben Folds á capella album! In case anyone's wondering (no one is) Evaporated is the worst and Fair is just the best ever. Full marks.
I bought new conditioner and it's handsome. Tonight we will be enjoying the majesty that is Takeaway Night. I'm definitely excited.
Yesterday I did some volunteering for Starlight Day and we made heaps! Like, $400! And tomorrow I have to help at soccer... oh well! Adam Hills!
Bye bye!
P.S. Twisted ankle on Sunday, was miraculously cured by Monday morning. What? But I like it!

Won't you come out to play? To those I owe a (third of a) post to!
Chris
To begin with, your quoting skills are unrivalled. As is your encyclopaedic knowledge of American cartoons, sitcoms, and, I imagine, Dora The Explorer or whatever's cool for five-year-olds on Cartoon Network.
You love your family and you're not embarrassed of them like so many people seem to be (why, people, why?). You must also be a good long-term friend because that childhood friend of yours (whose name I've forgotten) I've meet a couple of times clearly looks up to you.
Plus, you've always managed to hold your own against people almost two years older than you in some cases. That's a pretty big deal when you're about thirteen, huh? So pretty damn impressive!
I promise that if you come into work, I will show the annoying invisible Japanese man who talks. No joke.
Shona
What can I say? Everyone loves you, which must mean you can do no wrong! Also your house is nice, although this probably isn't something I should attribute to you :) I'm sure your flat looks nice too.
You're gorgeous and can wear anything - especailly anything printed with cherries on. Plus you're tall - a good quality to short people like, oh, everyone else. You appear to look good in anything from try-hard gothic to '20s flapper!
You make friends instantly with anyone, which is a quality that can never be overrated. And then people want to tell you all about themselves, after only a few minutes! Craxy! Honestly, you can't teach that. I'll bet you're good at keeping the peace and smoothing things over too.
Plus you're Irish and I reckon no one can spell your name either.
I can rest easy, knowing you're probably the only person I know who's ever seen Soupy Norman.
...
Please, please, I hope you've seen Soupy Norman.
Nick
You've made a fresh start all by yourself, so I guess you're pretty independent after all! Independence is the best quality ever, in my HONOURABLE opinion. You've clearly picked your life up and you're chucking all the energy you have in, because you're so very different than you used to be. It even seems you can admit old mistakes, which is I suppose when you realise you're actually an adult.
You are ridiculously smart and lucky also that you can bullshit like a muvverbitch. You'd make a good plumber, I'm sure, but there are probably more interesting, apt, world-changing things awaiting you, so I sincerely hope you apply yourself and get the things you deserve and will require to find job satisfaction. And when all that's done, no doubt you will still have enough energy to write some Pulitzer-winning play.
We'll never be best friends, but I'm still impressed by your enthusiasm for life and determination in all areas. I look forward to seeing "SC" initialled after your surname.

A secret bus stop... for the police! Dear Diary,
I'm tired! Today I had yum cha with the usual suspects, and it was totally nice to leave the house again! I'm fully sick working on doing it again within the next year.
Actually, writing about THE CRAXY REHAB PLACE, which isn't actually rehab, but just a scientific study I was in for fifteen days. Fifteen whole days of medical madness! Don't worry, they paid me 'n' shiz. ( Smelly potato )

Pretty!
A couple of days, I went to Sydney Uni and played with locusts. It was awesome fun!
I finished watching Blackadder and it made me very sad! Now I'm going to watch Fawlty Towers and see if I can hate it less than last time. I think I will succeed.
Other things I have done: - read The Shining (They changed EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING! I wanted spooky twins, dammit!) - watched Sin City (Eh. I hardly remember it already.) - went to OnStage (So crummy this year... there was one I liked and eight I didn't.) - finished Bioshock (It was fantabulous but the ending made me angry.)
Happy almost-birthday Shona! Are you twenty?

Man, Friday! How boring is the tennis! I just sit down and watch it for hours and then awake to realise that I have WASTED my life away. Today was strange. We awoke to find our back lawn covered in possum entrails.
Then I went to volunteer-man (which was awesome, I trained people!), and then got a sweet lift home, and now I'm chillin' at the Holidae Inn because the folks are at Bowral watching Leonard Cohen be a hermit. This is surely the life! I'm going to stay up playing Dogz 2 (oh no, I'm regressing) and watch I Dream Of Jeannie at 1:30. If the tennis is ever over!
This week was insane. Tracey and me went to see Glan Hansard & Markéta Irglová at the The Opera House, then the next day we saw them talk in the Spiegeltent (which is bitchin', by the way) and then got things signed. Famous people scare me so I didn't say anything. Win! I was almost as excited about seeing Bernard Zuel. I love that guy. Trake's sister Megan is back and in fine form, with spanky French accent and spankier French exchange student in tow.
Bec came to stay and we had a great time. Except for when I ran the car into something. This time it was the drive-thru at McDo. Oh, asshat. Somehow, and this is beyond my wildest dreams, we spent Australia Day with Irene in the George Street Pizza Hut, eating fifty desserts to compensate the entry fee. Re-sult!

Oh dear! Just how long has Amy Winehouse been on crack? I lie, she's actually ADORABLE! She looks exactly the same!

Not to mention!

How dare he be a bit of alright! The band is called Seona Dancing. Can you guess?
( ... )
Hahahahahaha! All is infinitely well. My God, it's so hot that elderly people are just keeling over in Melbourne and Adelaide. The human race is going to die out. You can only fit so many people in Finland. It's all rather alarming, and not just because we have no idea what the flippity-flop is the hap-haps. If you follow my continental drift.
I'm so sure I had much more interesting news, but it turns out I didn't! How embarrassment! When up at Killcare last week visiting Cousin Jack and the Irish relatives, I saw John Bell, which was all very exciting. Whenever at Killcare I always seem to see some famed person from afar. Well, that's the second time, anyway.
I don't think I wrote about Newcastle but a most excellent time was had, and I desperately want to go back! It's so pretty, like a whole city of Newtown. And I was once again reminded that Sydney is full of old people. My cousin Nicola starts uni this year, and just arrived in Sy-do-ni to stay! This is grand.
It's nearly soccer o'clock! Also, I need a haircut but can't stop procrastinating! Somebody STOP me!
Byee! - Freya.
P.S. Oh MY God, DO NOT see Bride Wars. WORST. EVER.

Short meme-like thing is short. The first seven people to respond to this post will get something made by me. First seven only.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. - What I create will be just for you. - It'll be done this year (2009). - You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a mix CD. It may be a poem. I may draw or paint something. I might bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure! - I reserve the right to make something extremely strange. - I reserve the right to make something for your kid(s) instead of you.
The catch? The catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well, if you expect me to do something for you!

I find it very very easy to be true Dear Jimmy Carr,
Finally, here is the second half of my Việt Nam post! It's been killing me these last twelve months: ( The inscription just adds to the mendacity )

I'll leave you with a photo of the staff at Gà Rán Kentucky. I think they were quite bemused at MY bemusement.
Last week I worked and watched a lot of movies:
- Rebel Without A Cause, which was badly paced and boring until the last forty-five minutes - A Streetcar Named Desire, which I loved becuase it was very me (I should have been alive in the '20s and '30s, and no mistake) and the costumes and sets were orgasmic - Hello Dolly, which is what Doug Anderson would refer to as "a light-hearted romp", and was twee but fun - good costumes and sets again, apparently to the value of $US20 000 000, which was less in 1969, I suppose. Who would've though Barbra Streisand could be okay? After Yentl I wasn't going to go back, but Wall-E told me to.
I think I want Doug Anderson's job. He's a very funny man. I could watch Fred Astaire and Errol Flynn movies for a living? Sign me up!
T-Rake and I also went to see the Tim Minchin movie, Rock'n'Roll Nerd. I can't recommend it enough. Uplifting and real. I usually only go to Dendy once a year, but I'm going ag'in on Thursday. Yay!
Byee! It was a pleasure!
P.S. I go away this Sunday, so have a very merry Christmas, every last one! You should all go watch It's A Wonderful Life. Hopefully we'll all congeal converge on New Year's Eve.

I'm outside myself more and more these days Blah blah blah birthday, et cetera, blah blah. Lies, lies, subterfuge, I AM going to write about it. Hokum.
On Monday, which was my birthday, I met Thomasina for breakfast, which was nice and she gave me like a thousand presents, which is terrible, because I'm not good at getting presents. You know how some people scream like they get to be on Extreme Makeover? Well, I ain't them. Instead I'm entirely underwhelming. But yes.
So thanks Thomasina! The food was nice and we even did the crossword (unsuccessfully). But then she had to go to "uni" so I had to release her from the ockey-strap of broken dreams. Which was GAY in the primordial sense-i.
Wandered down to the Powerhouse Museum where I hadn't been in eons! Met Laura along the way and we talked briefament about birthdays and work and other Matters of National Importance, but then I thought maybe to stop harrassing her at work because i r haet it when people r doin' that to me. Besides which I had to meet Tracey :)
Finally got there and sat inside defrosting (I HATE summer! HATE it! A JIHAD on summer!) with a cake on my lap and then Tracey came hurray! We went through the museum for AAAGES - isn't it nice to take your time without siblings and teachers? - and talked about yet more Matters of National Importance like how we should drive the train out of the museum (this has been a little-known ambition of Ella's and mine for some time). T-Rake and I were very much of the sad that there was no giant keyboard or Teddybears' Picnic because of the Star Wars exhibition, which was causing Tracey still more grief by not being open.
And we oohed and ahhed at the shoesies and fashion (there was this ridiculouse '80s dress I liked) and relived the Modernist era which we'd never initially lived but we may as well've. Not to mention standing at the chocolate machine for a long time and experiencing the experience that is the Isaac the Robot experience (Everyone's a winner babe an' that's no lie!). I also have to add that Tracey talked to Sylvie who is an AI computer woman designed to teach children about BABBAGE (what an epic name) and interrogated her about monogmay and RSVP.com among many other questionably un-BABBAGE related scientifics. The conversation featured such winning lines as "i'm a powerhouse in my pants". !!!
Then we wandered around and had laksa (in my case) and went to Danger (in hers). And then we decided that a Slurpee was the way of the future and wandered into Capital Square because I hadn't seen the Asianocity that is dream photo machines en masse. After what seemed like hours of Hello Kitty and sombre couples, we decided that it was photo time! Tracey promptly asked the sir which machine was the pinkest, which I thought was a ludicrous question, but he was more than happy to guide us to the Pink-Glitteratron. And help us do EVERYTHING because the machines are in Japanese... such rollage was had! We giggled for hours while posing stupidly. And then - even better - we got to do the post production, which pretty much involved as many stickers as we could fit on the photos without (or in some cases, intentionally) covering our faces. I were that I could scan it in. :(
Then we went, fuckit, let's go all out, so we went on a quest to DJs to find the Mystical Talking Tree (Of The West). Success! Tracey even found a way of getting the Mystical Talking Tree (Of The West) to talk about hydroponic marijuana in front of small toddlers. I swear, blink and you'll miss this segue from Christmas to ganja. What! If you're planning a trip to the Mystical Talking Tree (Of The West), I would recommend pushing the boundaries as far as possible. Let's see how illicit this conversation can get in front of small children! I want to hear about doggie-style people! DOGGIE-STYLE!
So that was a day well done, ticking off my birthday list really. I had family dinner and like a tonne of cake and not too many presents, which is exactly what makes my day, d'ya know? And then I watched episodes of The Chaser's War On Everything for hours and fell in love with it all over again (I'm changeable like the wind, or there's a lot of love in my heart). And then I watched it for more hours, with commentary.
Because I'M NOT EMBARRASSED to say that I'm a COMMENTARY FREAK who will listen to commentary on anything. And I'm used to being abused on commentary, because that happens a lot. Like, "Get up, you saddo, and attempt to make some friends". I don't care, I'll always love commentary. So, nuts to you.
Um... I've forgotten my point. Goodnight!
